Among the incidents Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported were Israeli demolition activity in Bani Hayyan and artillery fire near Wadi al-Hujair, as the June framework ties Israeli withdrawal to Lebanese army security duties. Its wider account also listed search operations in Khiam and shelling or gunfire elsewhere in southern Lebanon.

The June 26 accord signed by Lebanon, Israel and the United States pairs an Israeli pullout in stages with Lebanese army security duties in designated areas. It also makes the disarmament of armed groups outside state control subject to verification.

On July 26, Lebanon’s army linked attacks in the south to delays in its deployment and residents’ inability to return. An earlier NNA account also described shelling and home fires in southern Lebanon.

Anadolu Agency, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Lebanese and Israeli delegations began two days of talks in Florida on Oct. 20 to review the framework, with talks set to resume Oct. 21.
