NTPC Limited shares closed 0.45% lower on Nov. 3. The utility also outlined a 149-gigawatt capacity target for 2032, citing expected growth in electricity demand.

FT market data showed shares closed at ₹321.55 on the National Stock Exchange of India, down ₹1.45 from the previous close. The session range was ₹316.60 to ₹323.35.

In a Nov. 3 exchange filing, NTPC said SES ESG Research Private Limited gave it a score of 64.2, up 1.4 points from a year earlier. The company said it had not engaged the research provider and that the assessment was prepared independently using public information.

NTPC’s published chairman’s statement sets a 149-GW capacity target by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable energy. It also states an aspiration to reach 244 GW by 2037, excluding storage.

Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh told the KPMG ENRich 2026 event on Nov. 3 that the company planned to add 58 GW of installed capacity by 2032. PTI also cited Singh’s estimate of current capacity at 91 GW and reported his comment that the company was accelerating nuclear additions.

A company disclosure dated Oct. 30 listed group installed capacity at 91,668 megawatts and commercial capacity at 90,588 MW.

NTPC says industrial activity, infrastructure, urbanization, electric mobility and digital services are among the forces lifting electricity demand and supporting its expansion plans. Its planned investment through fiscal 2037 is estimated at about ₹16.86 lakh crore. The company says the program may support domestic manufacturing, employment and related infrastructure. NTPC reported that its capacity grew from 43.1 GW in fiscal 2013-14 to about 91 GW.

The board declared a first interim dividend of ₹3 per equity share for fiscal 2026-27 and set Nov. 6 as the record date. The dividend followed the company’s results update, covered in EconoTimes’ earlier report on NTPC’s profit and green energy growth.
