NTPC Limited’s consolidated profit rose 40.7% in the quarter ended Sept. 30, while its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited posted faster growth from a smaller base, underscoring the renewable unit’s expansion within the group.

For the quarter, NTPC’s consolidated profit was ₹7,350.79 crore, up from ₹5,225.30 crore a year earlier. Of that total, ₹7,029.56 crore was attributable to owners of the parent, a 38.7% rise. Consolidated revenue from operations climbed 21.2% to ₹54,269.95 crore from ₹44,784.05 crore.

NTPC Green Energy’s separate consolidated filing showed profit of ₹137.50 crore, compared with ₹86.38 crore, and revenue from operations of ₹938.16 crore, up from ₹612.29 crore. Those amounts represented year-over-year increases of about 59.2% and 53.2%, respectively. NTPC’s consolidated total includes results from subsidiaries; the company said subsidiary profit rose 73% to ₹1,990 crore from ₹1,149 crore. NTPC linked the rise in standalone profit to higher power generation and more efficient operations.

NTPC Green Energy’s presentation listed operating capacity of 11,059 MW as of Sept. 30, including 10,156 MW of solar and 903 MW of wind, compared with 7,407 MW a year earlier. Its annual report put group operating capacity at 10,076 MW as of March 31, a figure covered in earlier EconoTimes reporting.

EBITDA figures use different scopes. NTPC’s investor snapshot showed standalone EBITDA of ₹11,980 crore for the quarter, compared with ₹11,542 crore a year earlier; NTPC Green Energy reported operating EBITDA of ₹830 crore, against ₹530 crore. The subsidiary said its operating measure excludes Ayana, whose contribution is reflected through equity-method accounting in consolidated results, so the figures do not provide a like-for-like comparison.

NTPC declared an interim dividend of ₹3 per equity share, equal to 30% of the ₹10 face value, and set Nov. 6 as the record date, with payments due to begin Nov. 25. NTPC Green Energy’s Oct. 30 board filing approved its results but recorded no dividend declaration.
