The end-of-December short interest represents 4.26 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 5.20 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 751 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 741,235,367 shares at the end of the settlement date of December 31, 2015 compared with 755,624,633 shares in 749 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 3.80 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.74.
In summary, short interest in all 3,055 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,676,397,825 shares at the December 31, 2015 settlement date, compared with 3,061 issues and 8,849,676,583 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
