The Sei Development Foundation said it will soon integrate native USD Coin (USDC) and Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V2) on the Sei Network, a move aimed at enabling faster and more reliable cross-chain transfers of digital dollars.
The launch will position Sei, a layer-1 blockchain optimized for high-performance trading, as one of the supported networks for Circle’s updated protocol. Sei is designed to offer low latency and high throughput, which the foundation says makes it suitable for enterprise-grade financial applications.
"The integration of native USDC and CCTP V2 on Sei will create new opportunities for businesses to leverage digital dollar infrastructure on the high-performance rails that we provide for digital asset markets," said Justin Barlow, Executive Director at the Sei Development Foundation.
Sei developers are building applications across sectors including decentralized finance (DeFi), decentralized science (DeSci), and gaming. The addition of native USDC is expected to enhance stablecoin accessibility and performance on the network, offering a fully reserved, U.S. dollar-redeemable asset.
Native USDC will allow users to transfer tokens cross-chain using CCTP V2, which supports near-instant USDC transfers and enables automated smart contract actions after settlement via Hooks. Sei will become the 13th blockchain to support the updated protocol.
The integration is expected to strengthen Sei’s positioning as a competitive platform for enterprises seeking transparent digital asset infrastructure in the decentralized finance ecosystem.
