The Hebron Municipality reported 4,969 people from 780 families displaced during Israel’s military campaign, while the city’s mayor described damage to homes and infrastructure and disruption to work.
Anadolu Agency reported that the displaced residents came from Deir Bahha and Al-Jilda. It said the operation in Hebron had entered its ninth day.
Hebron Mayor Youssef al-Jabari told Anadolu that homes and municipal infrastructure had been damaged, factories had closed and workers could not reach their jobs. Anadolu reported Oct. 29 that the offensive began after an attack killed two Israeli soldiers.
Al Jazeera reported Oct. 24 that about 200 Palestinian families had been displaced in Hebron, as described in our earlier coverage of the displacement. That earlier account gave a family estimate; the municipality later reported a tally in both people and families.
