Netherlands consumer confidence strengthens further in March, hits 10-year high

Netherlands seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index rose by 2 points to 16 in March, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) showed Monday. Netherlands consumer confidence strengthened further in March to hit its highest level since July 2007.

Consumers were more positive about the economic climate and their willingness to buy also increased, the CBS said. The economic climate index improved to 33 in March from 29.0 in the prior month. The index measuring willingness to buy increased slightly from 4.0 in February to 6.0 in March.

March’s consumer confidence indicator is significantly above its long-term average of -8 over the past two decades. The indicator reached an all-time high of +27 in April 2000 and an all-time low of -44 in February 2013.
