‘New Girl’ season 6’s episode 22, titled “Five Stars for Beezus," will feature Cece and Schmidt as they share their big news. Meanwhile, Jess will finally admit her feelings for Nick.
The synopsis for “Five Stars for Beezus” posted on TV Guide reads, “Jess (Zooey Deschanel) believes the time is right to let Nick (Jake Johnson) know how she feels about him. Later, Nick meets with a book publisher; Aly (guest star Nasim Pedrad) helps Winston (Lamorne Morris) reunite with an important person; and Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) get big news.”
It seems that Schmidt and Cece will have big news to share in the upcoming episode. Although no details have been revealed about the news, it was hinted in the promo that everyone, including Jess, Winston, and Aly will be extremely excited about it.
The news comes after another big reveal in the previous episode, titled “San Diego," where Schmidt finally disclosed his real first name. Schmidt took it upon himself to reclaim his birth name and it was also revealed to be Winston.
Executive producers Brett Baer and Dave Finkel addressed the big reveal during an interview with TVLine. When asked about how long they knew Schmidt’s first name, Baer explained, “Dave and I wrote an outline for [Season 1] Episode 14 where we revealed what Schmidt’s name was and we decided to hold off. It was just too early. But the funny thing is, it wasn’t [Winston] at all.”
Finkel added, “We were waiting for the moment when it felt right and most impactful. And we still don’t know if there will be a Season 7, so it’s one of those things where if we’re going to do it, we better do it [now].”
They also admitted that they kept the secret from actors Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris for as long as they could. The actors only knew about it during a table read that they described to be “one of the best” so far.
Meanwhile, Nick and Jess will finally have semblance of closure in their relationship. In the upcoming episode, Jess decides that she would finally admit her feelings for him, especially now that Nick and Reagan (Megan Fox) have called it quits.
Baer said, “I think it would be really disappointing to have the show go off the air and not give the audience a satisfactory conclusion to a story line that’s been the engine of the show since Season 1.”
‘New Girl’ season 6’s episode 22, titled “Five Stars for Beezus," is scheduled to air on Fox on April 4, 2017. The American sitcom, developed by Elizabeth Meriwether, follows the lives of friends who lived in the same Los Angeles loft. The series received generally positive reviews from critics since its premiere on Fox on September 2011.
