| SUMMARY: | Plug Power tracks the number of refueling of its GenDrive fuel cells from GenFuel dispensers with its intelligent system monitoring technology. Since the launch of GenFuel in 2014, it will have built to the 1 millionth hydrogen refueling. This is a crucial milestone for the company and it’s appropriate that it will occur in conjunction with Sen. Schumer’s visit, a supporter of Plug Power since its inception. |
| Plug Power’s GenDrive forklift fuel cell units power forklift trucks throughout many U.S. distribution centers. Fuel cells and hydrogen refueling stations allow distribution centers to eliminate time-consuming battery recharging and instead refuel forklifts within minutes, minimizing down time for each truck and its operator. Additionally, distribution centers are able to eliminate battery rooms and devote that valuable floor space to storing and moving its products. And because fuel cells are powered by hydrogen, a clean-energy fuel, only heat and water are generated as byproducts of electricity creation, allowing distribution centers to further support sustainability initiatives. | |
| Plug Power is enabled to grow its workforce not just in Latham, New York, but globally with offices in Spokane, Washington and including more than 190 regionally-located service support. The company now employees more than 330 employees across the globe. | |
| “Senator Schumer’s continued support has assisted Plug Power in vertically integrating our manufacturing and design efforts,” said Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power. “This includes in-house manufacturing of our fuel cell stacks, hydrogen stations, as well as our fell cell products. These efforts have created hundreds of jobs in the capital district.” | |
