Nike is celebrating the 2024 World Series with the release of the Dunk Low “Los Angeles” on October 26. Additionally, sneakerheads got a first look at the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro “Beethoven,” set for an April 2025 release, paying tribute to the basketball legend’s creative inspiration.

Nike Celebrates Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series with Dunk Low ‘Los Angeles’ Inspired by SoCal Skies

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are set to face off in the World Series for the twelfth time in baseball history, reigniting one of the sport’s most iconic rivalries. According to Sneaker News, this significant market showdown will showcase some of the brightest stars in baseball, including American and National League MVP favorites Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. With such star power, this year’s Fall Classic promises to be one of the most memorable yet.

As game one approaches on October 25th, Nike is gearing up to celebrate with a particular Dunk Low “Los Angeles” release. Departing from the traditional Dodger blue, this design features light gradient treatments inspired by Southern California’s skies. The Dodgers' iconic interlocking "LA" logo is reimagined as a cloud on the tongue, paired with a cloud-like Swoosh on the insoles. The tongue and quarter are decked out in soothing blue gradients, while the rest of the upper sport’s grey tones.

The shoe is crafted with suede overlays and a canvas toe box, quarter, and collar. The semi-translucent gum sole adds a unique touch, and the Swoosh logos feature a leaf-like pattern, alluding to October baseball’s autumn vibes. Notably, this release follows the Nike SB Dodgers Dunk Low colorway from 2022. The Dunk Low “Los Angeles” is set to drop on October 26th, just before game two at Dodger Stadium, with a retail price of $125.

Nike Teases Return of Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro 'Beethoven' with Enhanced Performance Features for 2025 Release

In other sneaker news, the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low is set to return to the spotlight with a Protro edition. After the release of the "Halo" colorway in September, marking the model’s first appearance since 2014, fans are now getting a sneak peek at the upcoming “Beethoven” Protro, scheduled for release in 2025.

Like all Kobe Bryant Protros, the Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro retains the original 2014 design with updated performance features, including Nike React cushioning in the midsole and an enhanced traction pattern. Inspired by Beethoven and the black and white keys of a piano, the design honors one of Kobe’s many creative muses. Kobe famously tweeted in 2013 that Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata helped him relax and focus during high-pressure moments.

In addition to the low-top model, the high-top Kobe 9 Elite is also undergoing a Protro revival, with the “Christmas” colorway slated to return later this year for its 10th anniversary. The Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro “Beethoven” is expected to be released in April 2025, according to sources like @mambakixx and @solekobe. Stay tuned to sneaker release hubs for the latest updates on this highly anticipated drop.
