EDISON, N.J., Nov. 06, 2017 -- Today, the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) announced its endorsement of Steven Oroho in his re-election bid in the New Jersey State Legislature District 24.
“It is my honor to receive the endorsement from the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters,” said State Senator Oroho. “The Skilled Trades organizations represent those men and women who truly reflect our small business community. If they are not working, they don’t get paid in order to provide for their families. I appreciate that member organizations, like the Carpenters, recognize my work to make New Jersey more competitive in attracting capital investment, which helps create jobs for Building Trades members. I was pleased to get the endorsement of the statewide New Jersey State Building and Construction Trades Council and am equally gratified to have the support of the Carpenters and will continue to work hard to keep that trust.”
The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters takes the issue of endorsing elected official candidates seriously and only endorses candidates who hold the same values as we do of protecting and preserving workers’ rights. We only provide endorsements to candidates that support prevailing wage protections, encourage the use of Project Labor Agreements, fight 1099 Worker Misclassification and support fair wages and benefits for working people.
John Ballantyne, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the NRCC, believes that Oroho will continue to support the rights of middle class workers and New Jersey residents when he’s re-elected on November 7th.
“We are pleased to endorse State Senator Oroho in his re-election as the State Senator for New Jersey’s 24th Legislative District, as he believes in supporting legislation that protects middle class workers rights,” said Ballantyne. “In his time in the State Senate, he has supported common sense legislation that supports working families, strengthens our labor union and invests in much needed transportation infrastructure.
