Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is expected to attend a state dinner hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump for Chinese President Xi Jinping next week, placing one of the technology industry's most prominent executives at the center of high-level U.S.-China diplomacy.
According to multiple media reports citing people familiar with the plans, Huang is expected to join the dinner during Xi's visit to Washington on September 24. The Chinese president is scheduled to hold talks with Trump as the two countries address economic, trade and technology issues.
Huang's reported attendance is particularly notable given Nvidia's influential position in the global artificial intelligence industry and the continuing technology competition between the United States and China.
AI technology is expected to feature in discussions between Trump and Xi, according to CNBC. Nvidia is a leading supplier of advanced semiconductors used to train and operate AI models, making the company an important player as both countries invest heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The United States and China remain major forces in the development and deployment of advanced AI systems. At the same time, semiconductor technology has become an important part of the broader economic relationship between Washington and Beijing.
Huang has maintained ties with the Trump administration and has participated in previous high-profile engagements involving China. Earlier this year, the Nvidia chief was among a group of American business executives who traveled to China with Trump.
Huang also attended a state dinner hosted by Xi during Trump's visit to China in May. Other prominent business figures at that event included Elon Musk and former Apple CEO Tim Cook.
His expected appearance in Washington would further highlight the growing intersection of AI, semiconductor policy and U.S.-China relations as Nvidia navigates one of the world's most consequential technology markets.
The White House had not immediately confirmed Huang's attendance, according to reports from CNBC and Reuters.
