MONTERREY, Mexico, Nov. 03, 2016 -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 11.7% in October 2016, as compared to October 2015. Domestic traffic increased 12.9%, and international traffic increased 3.3%.
Of total October traffic, 98.3% was commercial aviation and 1.7% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in ten airports in October. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+12.4%; +76,877 passengers), Culiacán (+21.7%; +26,749), Chihuahua (+21.6%; +19,285), Ciudad Juárez (+20.0%; +14,820), and Mazatlán (+22.3%; +10,620). Monterrey traffic increased principally because of higher traffic volumes on the Cancún, Mexico City, Guadalajara Tijuana, and Mérida routes. Culiacán traffic increased as a result of higher volumes on its Tijuana and Guadalajara routes. Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, and Mazatlán increased traffic principally on their Mexico City routes.
During October, Aeroméxico opened the Monterrey – Torreón and Torreón – Monterrey routes, and TAR opened the Tampico – Villahermosa route.
International traffic increased in nine airports in October. Traffic increased most significantly in Durango (+195.0%; +2,756 passengers), principally because of higher volumes on its Chicago and Los Angeles routes. San Luis Potosí (+23.3%; +2,243 passengers) increased traffic principally on its Houston route.
The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in October increased 8.5%. The number of domestic operations increased 9.8%, and international operations increased 0.2%.
