OnePlus Nord was one of the most anticipated mid-range smartphones last year, but it was initially launched to limited territories only. The good news now is that will change soon as the Nord series is confirmed to be released in North America next week.
What OnePlus Nord models are arriving in North America
The launch of OnePlus Nord marked the company’s return to the mid-range smartphone market. But it has been OnePlus’ strategy in recent years to launch new products in select regions first. That was the case for the OnePlus Nord, which was first made available in Europe, India, and a few more countries in Asia.
However, the North American debut of the OnePlus Nord series has always been in the works. It can be recalled that there was a very limited beta program launched last year where 50 people in the United States and Canada received the device so they can review it. Now, the official release of the two-device lineup is confirmed for this month.
The OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N1000 will go on sale starting on Friday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. ET for customers in the U.S. and Canada. Pre-orders will open on Jan. 8 and units can be reserved through oneplus.com, Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H. T-Mobile has also been named as the official wireless partner for the device’s North American launch.
OnePlus Nord N10 5G vs. OnePlus Nord N1000: Specs and pricing
Aside from the mobile network differences, other specs make the OnePlus Nord N10 5G the more superior model compared to the OnePlus Nord N1000. While both have LCD screens with a 90Hz refresh rate, the N10 5G’s 6.49” screen has a higher display resolution (1080 x 2400) than the N1000 (720 x 1600).
The OnePlus Nord N10 5G offers 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It also supports OnePlus’ Warp Charge 30T fast charging tech that is promised to power up the device with a day’s worth of usage within just 30 minutes of recharge. The 5G network is also made possible by the octa-core Snapdragon 690 chipset. The device also features a quad-camera setup with 64MP, 8MP, and two 2MP lenses plus a 16MP selfie camera. The N10 5G will be available in the color of Midnight Ice and will cost USD 299.99 / CAD 389.
Warp Charge 30T may not be available on the OnePlus Nord N1000, but it is equipped with a hefty 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. It is powered by Snapdragon 460 and comes with a configuration of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, but note that both devices have expandable storage. Its camera module only has three lenses in the back -- one 13MP and two 2MP sensors -- along with an 8MP selfie camera. It will cost USD 179.99 / CAD 239.00. As for the operating system, both OnePlus Nord models will be shipped with Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.5.
