Broadband Technology Report Judges Honor Industry's Most Agile Timing Toolkit With Diamond Technology Review Award
Denver, Colorado, USA. October 24, 2017. Oscilloquartz, an ADVA Optical Networking company, announced today that its OSA 5420 Series has won the 2017 Diamond Technology Reviews award for Active Network Hardware. Organized by the Broadband Technology Report, the award recognizes the value of Oscilloquartz's comprehensive synchronization toolkit, including recent innovation for precision timing in cable networks. Deployed in major enterprise and Tier 1 carrier networks across the globe, the OSA 5420 Series is a family of highly accurate and efficient Precision Time Protocol (PTP) grandmaster synchronization distribution and assurance devices. This innovative technology delivers robust and secure packet-based timing across a wide range of industries and applications.
"We designed the OSA 5420 Series from the ground up to provide unparalleled value and it's great to see that recognized at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2017. This award shows the strength of our vision for phase synchronization and highlights our incredible success in that market," said Gil Biran, general manager, Oscilloquartz. "No other frequency and phase synchronization device offers the same combination of precision, integration, reliability and cost-efficiency, and no other can be utilized in as many different sectors. With our OSA 5420's integrated Syncjack(TM) technology, operators can continuously monitor timing performance while in service without using expensive test equipment. This is especially valuable for cable multiple-system operators (MSOs) synchronizing remote PHY devices as they evolve towards a distributed access architecture."
The OSA 5420 Series is the most agile synchronization PTP grandmaster toolkit on the market and a core element of Oscilloquartz's comprehensive timing technology portfolio. Recent enhancements include improved security, delivery of phase synchronization over IPv6 and support for every major GNSS. It enables MSOs to implement synchronization networks in the most flexible, reliable and manageable way. Oscilloquartz's wider portfolio includes a compact SFP-based edge grandmasters featuring integrated GNSS receivers, indoor and outdoor compact edge grandmasters, and a highly precise cesium clock for primary reference source applications. With a common management system and a consistent feature set, MSOs can easily evolve their synchronization networks alongside increasing timing requirements.
"Collecting first prize in such a prestigious product review is a real honor. It demonstrates the growing importance of accurate, robust network synchronization and underlines how our OSA 5420 Series is the ideal solution to deliver it," commented Stephan Rettenberger, SVP, marketing and investor relations, ADVA Optical Networking. "The judging panel were looking for innovation that displayed ease of use, efficiency, reliability, uniqueness and contribution to profitability. Our OSA 5420 excels in each of those key areas. What's more, it can now be used in an incredibly wide range of applications, empowering more operators to cost-effectively drive highly precise synchronization throughout their existing networks without the need for major upgrade cycles."
