When last viewers saw “Outlander,” there was an exciting swordfight courtesy of a duel between main character Jamie and antagonist Black Jack Randall. Unfortunately, duels are illegal during the time period that the show is set in. As a result, the two were arrested and now Claire will have to do something to help her husband; something that, according to an article by TV Guide, might constitute a betrayal.
With Jamie in the Bastille, Claire has to ask King Louis for help which is likely going to cost her something big. Before she even gets there though, she has her pregnancy troubles to deal with since she had blood running down her legs at the end of episode 6 after learning about the duel.
For episode 7, MNR Daily reports that Claire is brought to the L'Hopital des Anges where doctors will try to save her as well as her unborn baby. Claire naturally blames herself for the incident.
After asking Mother Hildegard about the state of Jamie, the nun responded that Claire’s husband will be a guest at the Bastille for as long as the king wants him there. Claire then comments on what she perceived was betrayal on the part of Jaimie.
Her troubles don’t stop there though as the king will also ask Claire to help judge two men who are suspected of engaging in the dark arts, a crime punishable by death during that time period. Is this the price that Claire will have to pay in order to secure the release of her husband?
Also, a little book spoiler from “Dragonfly in Amber,” which is the second book in the “Outlander” series written by Diana Gabaldon reveals that Claire actually loses her baby. In the storyline, she named the baby Faith which is also the title of episode 7.
“Outlander” season 2, episode 7 will air on May 21 on Starz.
