While “Outlander” Season 4 will have a lot of exciting development in terms of plotlines and character development, the fourth installment is apparently a setup for its fifth and sixth seasons. Actor Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) revealed this information during his interview with Elle (via Express).
During the exchange, Sam said that “Outlander” Season 4 will see Jamie and Claire Fraser (Catriona Balfe) settle down as a family in the burgeoning lands of America. But given that conflict is needed in order to move the story forward, this settling down is nothing more than the eye of the storm.
“It’s a dangerous place. I think season four is really setting the scene for five and six, too, which we recently got commissioned for. It is a big arc -- a big, long story,” Sam said regarding “Outlander” Season 4.
The previous installment saw the show’s protagonists getting caught in a devastating storm resulting in a shipwreck and the loss of several crew members. “Outlander” Season 4 will pick up from this, and given the hardships that Jamie and Claire went through, it’s understandable that two would want to have a peaceful life.
But that life will possibly elude them as a newcomer on the show is set to cause complications for the Fraser family in “Outlander” Season 4. The new addition is Irish pirate Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers), who will be among the antagonists in the fourth installment. The showrunners have yet to provide details of what exactly this character is going to bring to the table but it’s safe to assume it’s going to be detrimental to Jamie, Claire, and the growing Fraser family.
And speaking of the Fraser family getting bigger, Rollo the half-wolf breed will make its appearance in “Outlander” Season 4 as the loyal companion of Young Ian Murray (John Bell). The author of the novels on which the show is based, Diana Gabaldon, said that Murray first got the canine when he won the dog in a game of cards on the docks of North Carolina.
Since then, the two have been inseparable, forming a bond through their adventures. “Outlander” Season 4 is set to air on Nov. 4 on its mother network, Starz, as well as on Amazon Prime Video.
