“Outlander” Season 4 will be airing a few hours from now and fans can’t wait for Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) to return to the small screen. There is a lot to take in this fourth installment as new regions and characters are going to be added to the story, The Daily Express reported.
“Outlander” Season 4 will be taking its plotline from the fourth book of its original source called “Drums of Autumn.” Book author Diana Gabaldon said that the show has done a wonderful job of fleshing out the story in this installment, with a couple of episodes having really captured her interest.
"There are two episodes that I particularly like and think are really well done and have a lot of emotional resonance. They are quite close to how they are done in the book as well," Gabaldon said. When prodded for more clues as to what these episodes contain, the author said it involves Jamie and his children. “Outlander” Season 4 is expected to have at least one of the Fraser children undergo a harrowing ordeal in the hands of the new antagonist.
In the fourth installment, Irish pirate Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) is going to be sexually assaulting Brianna (Sophie Skelton). Although there is no official confirmation that this event in the books will take place in “Outlander” Season 4, the mere thought of it is enough to make one’s heart drop. This is especially true since executive producer Matt B. Roberts himself said that this pirate is a real piece of work.
“Stephen Bonnet is a pure psychopath and a narcissist whose day-to-day is, 'What's going to pleasure me?'” Roberts said. “He's also a chameleon. He can act like anybody and fit into any situation, and that's what makes him so different. You never know what you're going to get with him.” Sam Heughan also said that Speleers did a great job of immersing himself into the character, and viewers will hate this villain with a passion once “Outlander” Season 4 introduces him.
