The simmering tensions between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appear to be reaching a boiling point, as the estranged couple’s efforts to maintain peace for the sake of their children seem to be faltering. Sources reveal that the pair, who announced their separation earlier this year, are struggling to keep their divorce amicable.
On September 14, the former couple was seen having a tense exchange at the Beverly Hills Hotel during an outing with Ben’s children, Samuel (12) and Fin (15), and Jennifer’s 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme. At one point during the day, Lopez, 55, was spotted wiping away tears, while Ben, 52, appeared stoic and unmoved, reminiscent of his on-screen Batman character.
Resentment Boils Over
Despite her best efforts to keep things civil, Lopez is reportedly struggling with deep feelings of resentment toward Affleck. “Jennifer would never make a scene in public, especially in front of the kids, but she has so much resentment,” an insider told National ENQUIRER. “She’s made it plain she’ll never forgive Ben for being such a coldhearted jerk and giving up on the marriage in such a savage manner.”
According to the source, tensions between the couple have been escalating for months, with their fragile truce now appearing to be at a breaking point. The insider added, “She agreed to play nice and try to wrap things up without any fireworks, but the tension is palpable, especially when Ben rolls his eyes and refuses to accept any responsibility for the marriage’s failure.”
A Tense Family Outing
The uncomfortable exchange between the pair at the Beverly Hills Hotel is just the latest sign of strain in their relationship. While they have tried to keep their separation under wraps, it’s clear that unresolved issues continue to plague their interactions.
As reported by National ENQUIRER, the couple quietly separated earlier this year, with Affleck moving into a $100,000-a-month rental near the home of his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. In July, Ben made a significant step toward finalizing the split by purchasing a $20 million French country-style house in Pacific Palisades. Meanwhile, Lopez officially filed to end their tumultuous two-year marriage on August 20.
“Ben has made it crystal clear he’s not going back to J.Lo, and she’s fuming,” the source revealed. “They were bickering behind the scenes even before this recent meet-up, which went about as badly as everyone feared.”
Divorce on the Horizon
As the couple’s public interactions continue to reveal cracks in their relationship, it seems the end of their marriage can’t come soon enough. “The sooner the ink’s dry on the divorce papers, the better it’ll be for everyone,” the insider added.
While both parties have tried to put on a brave face, it’s clear that the emotional toll of their separation is weighing heavily on Lopez, and the road to resolution may be more difficult than anticipated.
