Microsoft is rewarding players of AAA games released by Xbox Game Studios late last year with a PC Game Pass free trial. The company has released details on who is eligible for the offer and how to claim their free access to the subscription service.
Microsoft announced a three-month free trial to its PC Game Pass service this week to gamers who have played some of Xbox’s flagship games released last year, including “Halo Infinite,” “Forza Horizon 5,” and “Age of Empires 4.” However, fans who only joined these games last month are not eligible to receive the free trial. The company also confirmed that players of both the paid “Halo Infinite” campaign and the free-to-play multiplayer are included in the promo.
On an FAQ page, Microsoft said all players who access these games via PC using a Microsoft Account before Monday, Feb. 28, at 11:59 p.m. UTC are qualified to receive the free PC Game Pass trial. Fans can sign in with their Microsoft Account through the same page to check if they are eligible to sample the PC Game Pass services. Once players have confirmed their eligibility for the free trial promo, they will have until Saturday, April 30, at 12:59 a.m. UTC to claim the offer.
Similar to most free trial promos, though, only players who have not been a member of PC Game Pass can redeem the offer. They will also be required to input their credit card information once they claim the free trial. But they can cancel anytime to avoid getting charged for the regular monthly subscription of $9.99 once the free trial expires.
Those who were not able to play these games before Feb. 28 can also try PC Game Pass for $1 on the first month of their subscription. While the service does not include Xbox Cloud Gaming (exclusively offered with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), the PC Game Pass comes with an EA Play subscription. Its official website says it has a library of more than 100 games, including popular titles from Bethesda and new games available on Game Pass on day one.
