PUBG MOBILE (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) developers Tencent Games announced its plans for a new global tournament, including sponsorship from the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Apart from that, PUBG players will be more excited in the upcoming tournament as they will compete with each other for a whopping $600,000 prize pool.
After the gaming developer launched its latest content on Android and iOS, it announced its plans for its new eSports tournament. On the official website of PUBG, players from around the world can now enlist themselves in the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge. This includes squads from across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Japan/Korea, and China. These squads have an opportunity of taking home a total of $600,000 prize pool. Teams from the involved countries will be comprised of internet personalities, professional gamers, and celebrities. The PUBG Mobile Star Challenge is the first-ever championship series for the mobile version of the game and will recruit squads from six regions.
The PUBG Mobile Star Challenge runs from September onward. European final is the first station of the global tournament, then next is in Ukraine, Kiev, which is set on September 29 to 30. The finals will be happening in Dubai at the end of 2018.
Tencent also revealed the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge is sponsored by Samsung Galaxy Note 9. According to Variety, after the developer announced Samsung sponsorship, it attracted over 15,000 potential applicants.
“The ‘PUBG MOBILE STAR CHALLENGE’ with title sponsorship of Samsung Galaxy Note9 is bringing celebrities, professional gamers, and internet personalities together for the first-ever championship series,” a message from Tencent.
The top 20 teams from each of the six regions involved will move on to the global finals after the qualifier rounds. The Global Final Champion team will take home $200,000, while the Runner-Up will get $100,000, and the third place will get $50,000. Apart from the aforementioned prizes, The Regional Final Champion, Regional Runner-up, and third place winners will receive $20,000, $15,000, and $10,000 respectively. They will also become official “PUBG Mobile” partnered content creators.
