PepsiCo issued a voluntary recall for another one of its popular soda drinks. The snack and beverage manufacturer said it has pulled out more than 2,000 cases of Mug Root Beer as the drinks were mislabeled.
US States Covered By the PepsiCo Recall
PepsiCo explained that the recalled Mug Root Beer has zero sugar, but its label shows it is the regular version with full sugar content. All Recipes mentioned that the company started the recall in late March, but the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) only announced its investigation regarding the case this week.
The company is recalling Mug Root Beer in only some U.S. states. The 2,801 cases of 12-pack root beers are sold in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Remedy and Details of the Recalled Batch
Customers may identify if their soda is included in the recall by checking the can or packaging. The batch bears the best-before date of July 22, 2024; the code is JUL2224XXXXAS02234.
PepsiCo said those who purchased the affected Mug Root Beer can return them to the store and receive a full refund. The company said the soda is completely safe, so customers do not have to throw them away. They can still drink the product, but there could be a bit of a difference in flavor since it does not contain sugar.
Simply Recipes reported that Pepsi and the FDA did not say if the affected Mug Root Beers had already been removed from the stores. It is essential to check the labels before buying.
Meanwhile, this new PepsiCo recall comes almost two weeks after it recalled its Schweppes Zero Sugar Ginger Ale Caffeine Free drink. The issue here is similar, but in this case, the recalled items have full sugar when the label states “Zero Sugar.”
