President Donald Trump defended the U.S. war in Iran at a North Carolina rally, CBS News reported, as a Pew Research Center survey measured concern about fuel costs and risks to U.S. troops.

CBS also reported that Trump played down economic issues at the event.

Pew surveyed 5,062 U.S. adults from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4. The poll recorded high concern about two risks: 73% said war-related increases in gas and fuel costs concerned them greatly, and 71% said the possibility of U.S. troops being wounded or killed did too.

On the conflict itself, 65% disapproved of Trump's handling of the Iran war, while 33% approved.
