Venture Global said Phase 1 of its Plaquemines liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project in Louisiana began commercial operations Oct. 31, putting the company's second LNG export project into service.

Shell loaded Plaquemines' first cargo after Phase 1 entered commercial operations, Venture Global said in its Nov. 1 announcement. The shipment was covered by a long-term sales and purchase agreement.

The company said Phase 1's commercial start came slightly more than four years and five months after the project's final investment decision.
