‘Poldark’ season 3 actor Aidan Turner spilled more details from the filming set. He also admitted his worry about a new topless scene with Demelza during a recent interview. Meanwhile, Heida Reed teased that her character Elizabeth will attempt to give birth to her baby early to hide the real identity of her baby’s father.
According to the Daily Mail, the highly anticipated third season of BBC One’s drama television series based on Winston Graham’s novels of the same name will follow Aidan Turner’s Ross Poldark as he attempts to rebuild his broken relationship with wife Demelza, played by Eleanor Tomlinson.
Ross complicated things with Demelza when he slept with his ex-fiancee Elizabeth (Heida Reed) during a controversial scene in season 2. Ross was haunted by his feelings for Elizabeth after she announced her engagement to his long-time nemesis George Warleggan (Jack Farthing). The shocking news prompted him to go see her at her home.
To make matters more convoluted, Elizabeth was revealed to be pregnant following her marriage to George but the identity of the father of her child remained ambiguous considering her night with Ross. Season 3 is set to answer the mystery when the series returns on BBC One.
When asked about the father of Elizabeth’s child, Turner replied, “I can’t say anything about that… It’s never been revealed, nobody knows for certain and even the original book on which the TV series is based doesn’t make it clear – although I have my suspicions.
Turner joked, “When the baby comes out with a scar on its face that might be a bit of a giveaway!” Turner was referring to Ross’ signature facial scar, which he received during his time in the battlefield.
Co-star Heida Reed also teased, “Elizabeth’s covering all bases with the galloping horse ride, in case the child comes early which would suggest it’s not George’s but Ross’s because of the timing.”
She continued, “She’s doing all sorts of questionable things for a lady in her last term so that she can blame an early arrival on her activities rather than the time of conception. So she goes on long walks, lifts piles of heavy books, even fabricates a fall down the stairs, although it’s the horse-riding that’s most dramatic – and was most difficult to film.”
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Star, Turner expressed his worry about being unfit for intimate scenes for the upcoming season. The actor is set to appear in a bedroom scene with Demelza in which he only wears a towel. He said, “I don’t think I was ripped for it. I’m lying down talking to Demelza and I pull the towel down a little bit. I thought it was funny. I went ‘A little bit more, a little bit more.’”
He added, “I thought it would look OK. And then recently they showed us the clip and it’s very much not OK. I am not in shape at all.”
‘Poldark’ season 3 was commissioned on BBC One last July 2016, before season 2 began to air.
