British historical period drama "Poldark" premiered its eight-episode season 4 just last month, but fans are already asking about what the crew behind the show has for its fifth season.
Fans can hardly be blamed for wanting more news as even before the fourth season had started airing, Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Demelza Poldark, made the announcement that "Poldark" was getting renewed for a fifth season during the early screening of the fourth season's first episode.

Based on the historical novels by Winston Graham that focus on the character of British Army Officer Ross Poldark, “Poldark's” season 5 may be more predictable than most fans think. With the third season of “Poldark” focusing on elements of the fifth and sixth book, there are at most six more novels from the original stable of 12 books from which the series can take inspiration in the retelling of Mr. Poldark's trials and tribulations.
While excitement for season 5 may not be so easily contained, fans should know that there is a chance that the renewed fifth season for "Poldark" may be the series' last; if not the actual last season, then the last with Aiden Turner as the lead. Due to the nature of the Poldark retelling, which has a 15-year time gap between its books at some point, 35-year old Aiden Turner may not be able to pull off the needed role of an older Ross Poldark. Should such a direction be explored by Debbie Horsfield, we may be seeing another, much older leading British actor replacing Turner with similar adjustments for the rest of the cast.
"Poldark" season 4's season finale is due to air on July 29. Should everything regarding the show's pre-production go according to schedule, filming for "Poldark's" fifth season will start by September, similar to the show's previous seasons.
