A Polkadot governance proposal would correct Asset Hub’s dotUSD supply records after a Technical Fellowship investigation found about 4.06 million tokens missing from the tally despite remaining in a liquidity pool.
The Fellowship traced the mismatch to an XCM bug in supply accounting. It said the flaw was corrected and the affected assets were transferred to a controlled account. “It did not affect user wallets or funds. No action is required,” bkchr, author of the incident post, wrote.
The Technical Fellowship put the reduction in the Polkadot Treasury’s liquidity position at $1.3 million, attributing it to arbitrage around the price gap.
Referendum 1961, submitted Oct. 27, proposes recalculating the recorded dotUSD supply using current balances while leaving user balances unchanged. It also calls for restoring earlier weight settings for some Snowbridge components on Bridge Hub. The proposal attributes a pause in bridge operations to incorrect settings tied to an earlier runtime upgrade.
The referendum follows an earlier OpenGov approval for a dotUSD liquidity pool, which assigned $2.5 million in Polkadot (DOT) for initial liquidity and $2.5 million in Tether (USDT) for minting dotUSD.
Referendum 1961 was marked “Deciding” Wednesday, Oct. 28.
