“Power Book II: Ghost” will be a spinoff after season 6 concluded in February. The finale left fans reeling since it was confirmed that Ghost has been shot and died.
It was more shocking to know who his real shooter was and while there will be no more seventh installment to continue the story, the upcoming spinoff is enough to give explanations on what happened there. It will also reveal what happened to Tariq, his own father’s gunman, and Tasya, his mother and Ghost’s ex-partner.
Book II’s main theme
Courtney Kemp, the showrunner of “Power Book II: Ghost” revealed that although Ghost’s name is in the title, the drama will focus more on the strong women in the story. For this, they added a character who plays a businesswoman named Monet, probably with a big empire and Mary J. Blige has been enlisted to the part.
“I have really strong female characters in a way that I am trying to push even further than what we had in the original ‘Power,’” the showrunner told TV Line. “Mary J. Blige’s character is super strong and interesting, and the same is true of the lead characters in the next spinoff after that. I think women, especially women of color, but all women, are going to find really great inspiration while watching as we move forward.”
Theories and plot predictions
Speaking about Monet in “Power Book II: Ghost,” there is a theory that her daughter might help Tariq in making plans for Tasha to escape from prison. As per Express, Diana, Monet’s daughter will help out Ghost St. Patrick’s son so he can get his mother out of jail and is interesting to see how they will work together for Tasha’s great escape.
In any case, “Power Book II: Ghost” will pick up 72 hours after the events in season 6’s finale. At this time, Tariq started going to college so he can claim his inheritance from his mother. But there is a theory that he will not be able to collect the vast fortune as he will be killed. It was said that this episode will be end of Tariq because it is time for him to leave after committing many wrongs.
Finally, “Power Book II: Ghost” was initially scheduled for a summer release but it seems this will not push through. Filming for this drama has been stopped after a staff tested positive for coronavirus infection.
