It has been decades since Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, tragically passed away. But reports have it that she may have taught Queen Elizabeth II some lessons, especially in welcoming Meghan Markle into the British royal family.

Unlike Princess Diana, Markle was not born into a family with British nobility status. And it is now being reported that Her Majesty wanted to make sure that Markle felt she was genuinely welcome since she and Prince Harry got engaged in 2017.

Meghan Markle is Queen Elizabeth II’s new favorite?

Journalist Duncan Larcombe, who has been covering the Britsh royal family for a long time, commented that Markle has noticeably become close to the Queen. He even suggested to The Sun that the bond of Prince Harry’s grandmother with his wife could be closer than with other individuals who were married into the royal family.

Larcombe recalled a time when the Queen invited Markle to join her in the royal train for an official engagement just shortly after the “Suits” alum became the Duchess of Sussex. Markle assumed the royal title after marrying Prince Harry in May 2018.

The journalist added that it was an “unusual effort” and something that Her Majesty likely offered to other people even to Prince Harry’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. However, it is also possible that Queen Elizabeth II is not playing favorites but only did that for Markle for another important reason.

Larcombe explained that Her Majesty’s actions could also be a way to make sure Markle will not eventually feel isolated as the late Princess Diana did. Prince Harry’s mother reportedly revealed in a hand-written letter dated 1991, “I do feel extremely isolated more than ever now.”

Prince Harry changed since marrying Meghan Markle?

Larcombe also commented on how much Prince Harry changed since marrying Markle. “He’s on a different planet from the Harry we’ve seen develop from a teen to an adult to an army officer to the most popular member of the royal family,” the royal journalist explained. Not all changes are bad, and Larcombe believes that Prince Harry is at the happiest point of his life with Markle.
