Prince Harry’s long-time friend, Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras said on-air that Meghan Markle gave up everything to marry Prince William’s younger brother. But royal fans staunchly disagreed as they said the former “Suits” actress has nothing to give up in the first place for she has no career and no family either.
The prince’s pal defends the royals
According to The Sun, Figueras defended the couple from their critics when he appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last week. He is the captain of the Duke of Sussex’s charity polo team and also a well-known Argentinian polo star who has been friends with the prince for more than a decade.
In his interview with DeGeneres, he said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are committed royals who want to make the world a better place. Figueras said that they should even be called heroes because of the things they do for the world and added that it is said to see the people and the media attacking them instead of honoring and supporting them for the things they do for everyone.
“He’s a wonderful man, someone that really cares,” he told DeGeneres when she mentioned that the Duke and Duchess are under heavy scrutiny right now. “He’s really committed. He cares about children, he cares about making the world a better place.”
He added that Meghan Markle is an incredible girl, and she’s amazing. Figueras went on to say that the 38-year-old former actress “gave up all the things she had to marry this man she loves.”
To further show his support for Prince Harry and his wife, at the heels of criticisms hurled against the couple, Figueras wrote this on his Instagram. “I will defend my friends @SussexRoyal with my life because they are making a difference and we should all be supporting and helping instead of attacking.”
Fans objected when Figueras claimed Markle gave up everything for Prince Harry
Fans got upset when the polo player said that Meghan gave up everything to be a wife of a royal. They don’t agree because they said the actress was not even popular when she was in Hollywood and emphasized that she was a just a Z-list actress.
She doesn’t have a family or career to give up; thus, Figueras’ claim is not right, then they called her a social climber since she finally made a name and became rich after marrying a prince.
“She gave up nothing, marrying has enabled her embark on her social climbing to a greater extent, a lifelong ambition so it would seem,” a Twitter user commented.
