Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet at the Shenzhen APEC forum, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said Monday, while the Kremlin has given no details on a separate three-leader meeting.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday there were no specifics for a possible meeting involving Putin, Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump. His remarks referred to the possible three-way encounter, separate from the bilateral talks Matviyenko described.
Putin had referred to meeting Xi again at APEC during an Oct. 21 meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s account of their discussion.
Trump had said he had not agreed to meet Putin and Xi but would attend if they wanted him to, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the proposal. EconoTimes previously reported that no agenda had been set for the possible three-way talks.
China’s Foreign Ministry scheduled the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting for Nov. 18-19 in Shenzhen. No specific date was given for Putin and Xi’s bilateral meeting.
