Quant Mutual Fund chief Sandeep Tandon said India’s headline indices were beginning to form a floor, while warning of crowded midcaps and saying foreign institutional investor selling was nearing exhaustion, NDTV Profit reported.

Central Depository Services (India) Ltd. (CDSL) recorded net foreign portfolio investor (FPI) equity investment of ₹10,583.90 crore in its Oct. 28 report. The total included ₹4,197.90 crore through stock exchanges and ₹6,386 crore through primary-market and other routes. CDSL says its reports are compiled from custodian submissions on the reporting date and cover transactions conducted on and up to previous trading days, so the Oct. 28 entry does not mean those trades all occurred that day.

The Oct. 28 report followed a net outflow of ₹963.56 crore in CDSL’s Oct. 27 monthly-table entry. Earlier CDSL data showed FPIs had net sold ₹48,056.33 crore through Oct. 23 across 15 reporting-date entries, as detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier tally of Indian equity flows.

In NDTV Profit’s account, Tandon said market conditions had improved from two years earlier and placed the capitulation phase about six months in the past. Tandon framed his outlook around sector-level relative risks, rather than overall valuations or index readings. He also cited stronger macroeconomic fundamentals and rising domestic liquidity.

NSE Indices defines the Nifty Midcap 150 as 150 companies ranked 101st through 250th by full market capitalization within the Nifty 500.

NDTV Profit reported that Tandon said quant Mutual Fund had increased exposure to gold and silver and that selected FMCG stocks had been neglected. The fund house’s April 2026 factsheet had also discussed signs of capitulation in Indian equities.
