Reform UK has begun distributing its first party newspaper, aiming to give supporters a direct channel and potentially grow membership, The Guardian reported Oct. 29.

Called the Reformer, the publication’s debut issue prominently features party leader Nigel Farage. Farage is the only person listed in a reporting role in the issue, and the party is recruiting journalists for future work, the newspaper reported.

Reform says the paper is part of its plan for a “significant national publishing operation.” Farage’s stated rationale is to communicate directly with supporters, whom he says receive a distorted view of Reform from media coverage. The Guardian reported that party sources think the publication could also attract members.

The newspaper follows an earlier staffing effort. Reform had listed 12 media jobs, including editorial, video and analytics roles, as well as jobs related to Reform TV and YouTube production, according to EconoTimes’ earlier report.

The national publication differs in scale from a familiar campaign tool. Local parties commonly distribute pamphlets during elections, while a newspaper published nationally throughout the year is unusual, The Guardian reported.

Reform insiders expect future editions to appear monthly, the newspaper reported.
