‘Reign’ season 4’s episode 6, titled “Love and Death,” will follow Mary as she faces grave political consequences of her decision to marry Lord Darnley. Meanwhile, Charles will disappear and Catherine will have to deal with the aftermath of his disappearance.
The synopsis for “Love and Death” posted on TV Guide reads, “Mary's (Adelaide Kane) potential marriage to Lord Darnley (Will Kemp) has political consequences she must face.
Meanwhile, Charles (Spencer MacPherson) vanishes, leaving Catherine (Megan Follows) to handle things; Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) helps Gideon (Ben Geurens); and an intriguing proposition is made to Claude (Rose Williams).”
It seems that Mary will have to face the consequences of her recent decisions, specifically when it comes to marrying Lord Darnley. The promo hints of impending war with the British as she is warned that her decisions will have severe ramifications.
Lord Darnley successfully proved himself worthy of Mary’s hand in the previous episode after engaging in a boxing match during the Highland Games. He even won the approval of the Scottish nobles after besting Lord Taylor.
Despite everything going well for the two, Elizabeth remains adamant about stopping the union as it will threaten her throne. She will gather her troops to join her cause, considering what James (Dan Jeannotte) tells his sister in the promo.
James cautions Mary, "You need to decide if this marriage is worth it, because the English are coming and if you defy them…” Mary finishes his sentence saying, "It would be war." It seems that despite everything, she is still intending to marry Lord Darnley and is even seen kissing him in the next scenes.
According to Just Jared Jr., actress Adelaide Kane teased what season 4 had in store for her character during a previous interview. She said, “I think this is our best season… I remarry, so we meet my second husband, and also my future third husband, he becomes a friend and confidant and helps me through a difficult period.”
She continued, “I do not know if this is a spoiler or if people are already aware…It’s history anyway so I’ll pretend it was not a spoiler, but Mary gets pregnant and gives birth to a little boy, the future King James.”
Meanwhile, Catherine will continue cleaning up after Charles’ trail of erratic behavior, according to International Business Times. When he disappears in the new episode, Catherine will have to handle the aftermath of his actions.
‘Reign’ season 4’s episode 6, titled “Love and Death,” is scheduled to air on The CW on March 24, 2017. It was directed by Megan Follows and written by Drew Lindo and Wendy Riss Gatsiounis. It will be followed by episode 7, titled "Hanging Swords," directed by Lee Rose and scheduled to be released on March 31.
