“Resident Evil 2” is set to send hearts racing again as the reimagining of the classic horror title will be released on Jan. 25. And for those who want a piece of the action early, Capcom has announced that gamers will be able to play a one-time 30-minute demo of the game on Jan 11, NDTV reported. Players who die can simply reload the demo but once the allotted time is up, that is it.
The demo access of “Resident Evil 2” will be available on Steam, PS Store, and Microsoft Store. The download size for it is 7.91GB, with the full game occupying 21GB on Xbox and PlayStation and 26GB on PC. This is a great move by Capcom to entice old and new fans of the franchise to test whether the reimagining is up to par with their expectations.
And judging by the gameplay walkthrough available over at Youtube, there’s little doubt that the sales performance of “Resident Evil 2” will be massive for the studio. Capcom has managed to polish the graphics of the title while maintaining the claustrophobic atmosphere that’s a key factor in keeping gamers immerse, Telegraph reported.
The Tyrant/Mr. X will be the main antagonist of “Resident Evil 2” and it seems that players will have no choice but to flee the monstrosity early on the game. Fans who watched the walkthrough saw that Mr. X isn’t receiving any damage despite the character unloading multiple rounds on the Frankenstein-like monster.
Players will need to gather information about the catastrophic event that has fallen on Raccoon City, navigating their way through the sewers and the cramped space of the city’s police department. And even before the release of “Resident Evil 2,” fans are also talking about the possibility of “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” getting its own reimagining.
At the moment, Capcom hasn’t announced anything yet. But if “Resident Evil 2” does bring in a lot of revenue for the studio, then it’s a near certainty that the “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” will get a similar treatment. So here’s to hoping that the upcoming reimagining will capture the hearts and fears of millions of people when it finally gets released on Jan. 25.
