HAMILTON, Ontario, Aug. 22, 2017 -- Hamilton-based Marquee Health Group Limited announced today that long-time Canadian retail industry leader Grant Froese is joining the company as Chief Executive Officer. In his new role, Froese will have responsibility for all operations, marketing and financial reporting for the company in the emerging regulated cannabis therapy industry.
Froese is joining Marquee Health following a 38-year career at Canadian retail giant Loblaw Companies Limited. Froese has led all levels of operations and merchandising and has had oversight of information technology, supply chain, digital/e-commerce businesses, marketing, and Loblaw’s industry-leading control brands.
“Grant’s leadership experience and ability to manage a complex business in an evolving operating environment is a significant benefit to Marquee Health and our growth,” says Marquee’s Co-Founder Paul Bernier. “Our future success is based on our ability to ensure a superior end-to-end experience for the consumer, an efficient and scalable supply chain and a supportive industry that is relentlessly focused on safety and quality. He is a great addition to our team, not to mention the credibility his appointment brings to the industry.”
Under Froese’s leadership, and with its vision and infrastructure, Marquee Health Group is in the final regulatory stages of becoming Canada’s preferred provider of cannabis for medical and, prospectively, adult recreational use. The company believes everyone should have the opportunity to live their best life and exists to offer hope and optimism for people seeking therapeutic options they can trust. Marquee Health is committed to innovation and quality control from the seeds it plants to the products it produces.
“Leading Marquee and helping people live their best lives is an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up,” said Froese. “I believe quite strongly that with our people, vision and products we can make a difference to thousands of Canadians and at the same time drive shareholder value. I’m looking forward to working with the team and industry stakeholders to ensure we meet and exceed the needs of consumers in a safe and consistent way.”
Marquee Health’s phase one, 20,000-square-foot growing facility is currently being constructed in Flamborough, Ontario. Future plans for the facility include a 40,000-square-foot expansion.
