Adult Swim recently released another promo video for their hit adult animated series but still without clear updates about the release schedule of “Rick and Morty” season 4. However, this brief teaser could be different and might mean something important because of the appearance of Evil Morty.
It is not strange for Adult Swim to release promo videos amid the absence of new episodes. But the said teaser strengthened the possibility that Evil Morty will have a bigger role in “Rick and Morty” season 4 such as becoming the main antagonist, Screen Rant suggested.

Back in season 1, it was already established that Evil Morty is up to no good. This was reinforced further in his latest stint before “Rick and Morty” season 4 where he won an election and became the president of the so-called Citadel of Ricks.
Meanwhile, the Earth’s (a.k.a. C-137) Morty and his grandpa Rick were out the entire episode swimming in the Atlantis. Morty kept bringing up the subject of how the Citadel is doing now after the events from the season 3 premiere. But his grandpa repeatedly said that dimension could no longer have “any bearings over [their] lives ever again.” This implies that Earth’s Rick has no idea that a dictator has emerged at the Citadel. So it would be interesting how this would tie in with the anticipated Evil Morty arc if it ever happens in “Rick and Morty” season 4.
It has been over a year now since season 3 ended. But, luckily, Adult Swim confirmed in 2018 that “Rick and Morty” season 4 will be released. Then, it was followed by a post from series creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon that they have at least 70 episodes in the pipeline. Though, it was not clear if all these plots will be included in a single season run.
As mentioned, the producers are still mum about the “Rick and Morty” season 4 premiere date. But it has been heavily speculated that a late 2019 release is possible.
