“Riverdale” season 4 was officially renewed by The CW. the announcement came shortly after the third season ended last month. There are many things to look forward to in the new installment and it includes the final farewell to Luke Perry who was Fred Andrews, Archie’s dad, in the series.
With how the third season concluded, it is now uncertain as to who will be back in “Riverdale” season 4. This is because, there were characters who died, went missing or simply left the town. But one confirmed cast member is Wyatt Nash who appeared for the first time in the show in the previous season’s finale. Deadline reported that he will return but for a recurring role only.
His role is intriguing since he was revealed to be Betty and Jughead’s half-brother. Plus, he is an FBI agent so he could be working on a case that can involve the Riverdale teens.
Cole Sprouse who has been acting as Jughead may or may not return and this was due to how his character was shown in season 3’s finale. Everyone in the gang was there in the ending but Jughead was missing. Only his beanie was showed to represent his character thus it was assumed that he died.
Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) stood around the fire and they were burning Jughead’s beanie. What this scene means is confusing but the redhead’s fate will really be revealed in “Riverdale” season 4.
But before that “Riverdale” season 4 showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa dropped some hints on Jughead’s story. “We started to talk a bit about what we were going to do next season and we felt like one of the things that had never happened on the show was that something extremely terrible hadn't happened to one of our Core Four,” he told Entertainment Tonight. It’s true that Archie has been beaten every episode this season but in terms of something that would really strike at the heart of the Core Four, it felt like one of them had to be at the bleeding heart of this crime, so that’s kind of how the idea evolved.”
Meanwhile, Roberto also said that Luke Perry will be honored in “Riverdale” season 4. The actor who died in March was not given a proper exit in season 3 but it will happen in the upcoming episodes. He assured that they will present the best way to honor the actor and his character in the fourth season.
