“Riverdale” season 4 is anticipated for the previous chapter ended leaving many questions unanswered. But then, it seems that the viewers do not have to wait until the series returns because the showrunners already dropped serious spoilers that they already answered almost every mystery in the last installment’s finale.
Tribute to Luke Perry
“Riverdale” season 4 will open with a tribute to Luke Perry who died near the end of season 3. He played Archie’s father Fred Andrews since the beginning of the show but unfortunately passed away due to massive stroke. No homage was given to him last time, and the showrunners revealed that they are doing it in the fourth installment.
It appears that “Riverdale” season 4 episode 1 will be wholly dedicated to Luke Perry. To make it more special even the actor’s close friend Shannen Doherty is set to appear as a guest.
“Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever,” show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote in June. “A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred.”
At the 2019 SDCC, Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed Doherty’s appearance for the tribute episode as she’s one of Perry’s closest friends. They starred together in “Beverley Hills: 90210” in the 90s. The show creator said that the actress’ involvement in the show is something that Luke wanted since season one.
“I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale,” Doherty wrote on Instagram after her casting. “The care in which this show takes in honoring his memory is beautiful. He is missed. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.”
Jughead is alive
Aside from the tribute, “Riverdale” season 4 premiere will also show that Jughead is alive. He was believed to have been murdered due to how the third season ended, but the show execs made it clear that Cole Sprouse is coming back to reprise his role as Jughead. Apparently, the viewers will know what exactly happened to him and what it means when his friends burned his beanie.
“Riverdale” season 4 will air in the U.S. on Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on The CW and on cable channels on Oct. 10 for worldwide viewing.
