San Francisco, Jan. 22, 2018 -- The Bureau is excited to announce that RootProject co-founder, Nicholas Adams Judge, Ph.D., has joined their blockchain incubator as an equity partner and advisor. Dr. Judge will be working with The Bureau to expand its portfolio of green and social impact blockchain projects and to help launch Impact Ledger, a new impact investment blockchain fund. The combination of RootProject, the Bureau and Impact Ledger means a coordinated global effort with tens of millions of dollars and experienced San Francisco tech entrepreneurs at its back – strongly focused on ending homelessness.

“The whole team is excited to have Nick join us at The Bureau — he brings some academic weight to every discussion, something sorely needed in the blockchain community,” said Matthew McGraw, CEO and a founding partner of The Bureau. “And with RootProject, he’s obviously aligned with our driving values. As a Public Benefits Corporation, ethics and vision of a better world are a gating factor for bringing on new partners.”
Based in San Francisco, Impact Ledger launched in January with over $30m committed in a family-and-friends round and a $400m raise target. The team is made up of investors from both the traditional tech and blockchain sectors including Dr. Judge, who brings a depth of financial econometric background generally lacking in both the blockchain and traditional VC spaces.
“I met Matt and the other partners at the Bureau on an airplane. We clicked naturally, and it was clear we’ve been working on similar issues for a while, so we decided to join forces on a social impact crypto fund. I’m honored they asked me to be a partner and they have been so generous. For the first time since grad school I feel like I’ve got a set of colleagues that will be life-long friends,” said Dr. Judge, co-founder of RootProject.
The Bureau is a blockchain accelerator. The Bureau believes in the transformative nature of blockchain and blockchain-powered, decentralized economies. They invest in projects and companies that further the success of the entire blockchain ecosystem. Since its inception, Impact Ledger’s parent hedge fund, Crypto Asset Management, has developed one of the best track records in the crypto space, regularly generating triple digit returns in a single month and outpacing the growth in Bitcoin’s value.
RootProject harnesses crowdfunding and cryptocurrency for the social good, while offering investors a cryptocurrency with built-in growth and social capital. The engine behind RootProject, a cryptocurrency called ROOTS, will launch Q1 of 2018 with the exact dates to be announced at the Davos World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in late January. Months before they become available, public and private purchasers of ROOTS have already reserved online millions of dollars’ worth of the cryptocurrency.
