South Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. (DHIC) and it's British subsidiary Doosan Babcock will provide pressurizers to the global artificial sun project of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) consortium by 2022.
The ITER is determining if it could create an artificial sun on Earth, or a limitless energy resource with the use of a super-hot plasma field, and naturally abundant tritium and deuterium.
The pressurizers will be used to retain pressure and protect the reactor from overpressure ed the heat exchange system.
Construction of the reactor began last month in Cadarache, France, and is slated for completion by 2025.
The reactor would begin operations by 2042.
The ITER consortium counts South Korea, the EU, the US, Japan, Russia, India, and China as members.
DHIC is repaying 3 trillion won in debts.
It is set to issue and sell shares worth 1.3 trillion as part of its efforts to satisfy its obligations.
