SK Square’s higher payout floor will direct at least 60% of recurring dividend income to shareholders through 2028, supporting a planned return of 4.3 trillion won ($3.2 billion).

The Korea Herald said the commitment exceeds any shareholder-return plan SK Square has made since it began operating in 2021. The outlet tied the larger commitment to higher dividend receipts from SK hynix.

The Korea Herald reported that SK Square projects dividend receipts from SK hynix above 6.2 trillion won. That estimate reflects SK hynix’s shareholder-return plan for over 30 trillion won in fiscal 2026 cash dividends and SK Square’s stake in the chipmaker.

For 2026-28, SK Square’s revised policy raises the minimum share of recurring dividend receipts sent to shareholders to 60%, up from 30% previously. The company also plans to distribute all special dividend income tied to gains SK hynix made from its investment in Kioxia, the Japanese memory-chip maker.

The prior framework paired a 30% recurring-income floor with a partial pass-through of investment gains. SK Square’s new terms lift the regular-dividend minimum and require full payment of the specified special dividend income, The Korea Herald reported.

Earlier this year, SK Square reclassified 5.89 trillion won from capital reserves into retained earnings as part of an effort to make future shareholder returns more sustainable, The Korea Herald reported.

EconoTimes previously covered SK hynix’s consideration of a special dividend ahead of its Oct. 28 results; at the time, the company had not announced an amount or approved a payment.

SK Square said the announcement “reflects the board’s firm commitment to enhancing shareholder value.” It said it would use disciplined capital-allocation principles for new investments.

The company will determine final payout details after completing its 2026 financial statements and required procedures.
