ATLANTA, June 12, 2017 -- SG Contracting President and Georgia Board of Regents member Sachin Shailendra recently delivered a commencement address to Clayton State University graduates, faculty and guests.
Shailendra's main message to graduates during the May 6, 2017, commencement ceremony was, "Don't ever give up. Always continue to work hard and strive to reach your goals."
Shailendra, whose roots in Clayton County date back to his childhood in Morrow, also noted that his mother took classes at Clayton State University, and that his cousin is a graduate of the school.
Shailendra, a passionate supporter of the Atlanta community, is the top executive at SG Contracting, a general contracting and project management company. SG Contracting has worked with several colleges, universities, independent schools and nonprofits. They include Atlanta International School, Chastain Medical Center, Carl Sanders YMCA and the Clayton County Justice Center.
Shailendra is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering and is an alumnus of Woodward Academy, where he has served as past president of the Alumni Association.
An Atlanta business leader, Shailendra has held esteemed roles in education and nonprofit, including being appointed by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, and serving as a board member for the Georgia REACH Foundation. He also sits on the Board of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Sports Network. Most recently, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta and the Buckhead CID.
Shailendra has been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a top business and community leader in the publication’s annual “40 under 40” issue, and Atlanta Magazine has named him among its top 10 “up-and-coming” Atlantans for his efforts in progressive and proactive community building.
