Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are now gearing up to film the fifth installment of “Outlander,” the TV series based on the fantasy novels of Diana Gabaldon. While the previous entry resolved some satisfying conclusions to its storyline, it also left a major cliffhanger as Murtagh’s (Duncan Lacroix) fate has been thrown in the air.
“Outlander” Season 5 will be following the events that occurred in Gabaldon’s “The Fiery Cross.” In it, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will be trying to weave their way through the unfolding civil war that’s set to explode. Also, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) will be welcoming her firstborn in the story, which will spell a new challenge for the young Fraser, Parade reported.
This is especially true since it’s unclear whether her child’s father is Roger (Richard Rankin) or her rapist, Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers). Outside of the show, fans of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are hoping that the two would receive their much-deserved recognition this coming Emmys 2019.
While both the stars have put in phenomenal work in their respective roles in the time-traveling drama, the Emmys have unfortunately snub both for years, GoldDerby reported. Of course, with other shows aiming to grab the accolades, it’s somehow understandable that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe hasn’t been recognized.
But with Matthew Rhys, Ed Harris, and Jeffrey Wright absent this year, there’s a chance that Sam Heughan could snatch the Emmy in September. Regardless of what will occur, Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will undoubtedly deliver yet another stellar performance for the fifth entry of “Outlander.”
The co-stars of both leads previously said that the pair is highly professional when it comes to the set, often times standing as the pillar that keeps everything upright. And with Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe getting promoted as executive producers, their influence in shaping the show has now soared to new heights.
