Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are the lead stars in the highly popular “Outlander” TV series that is regularly airing on Starz. The two actors have always shown exemplary acting skills in the portrayal of their characters as Jamie and Claire Fraser however, despite their passionate acting, it seems that the Emmy’s always overlooked their abilities. With the 2019 awards coming up, fans are hoping that this time, they will be recognized.
The season of award-giving in the U.S. is coming up, and many artists are already being predicted to become contenders in the prestigious awards ceremonies. In particular, fans want Jamie and Caitriona to be in this year’s nominees for Emmy’s best actor and best actress categories, so Starz took the first step and forwarded an entry for the “Outlander” stars.
Starz is aware of “Outlander” series’ high ratings and good feedback from critics, so it was disappointing when in 2018, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe failed to get a nomination. The only one that received a nod last year for the drama was for Best in Costumes category so this year, the TV Network is hoping for the grand prizes in Best Actor and Actress categories.
At any rate, in an exclusive report coming from Gold Derby, it was revealed that Starz already released its lineup for the 2019 Emmy Awards contenders. In the official list, Sam and Caitriona lead the nominations for “Outlander,” and the other nominees include Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall Fraser) for Best Supporting Actress, Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) for Best Supporting Actor and Maria Doyle Kennedy under the Best Guest Actress.
Doyle is the veteran actress playing Aunt Jacosta in Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s historical-fantasy drama. The series itself is aiming for the Best Drama at the Emmy’s, bringing the total of nomination entries for “Outlander” to six.
Finally, viewers of “Outlander” are hoping that Sam Hueghan and Caitriona Balfe’s name will appear in the official nominees at the Emmys this year. The announcement has been set for July 16 and the awards night is to follow in September.
