Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are now filming the fifth season of their hit drama “Outlander,” and the actors recently sat down to tease fans by revealing bits of spoilers. They also confirmed the drama’s release date via social media on Aug. 30.
Heughan and Balfe will be back as Jamie and Claire Fraser, and they shared that they will be building the Fraser Ridge now that their family is growing. They are grandparents now as their daughter Brianna already gave birth to her first child.
Spoilers for ‘Outlander’ season 5
In their interview, Sam Heughan said that someone is making a comeback in the show, but he did not mention who as he said it is such a big spoiler to give. This means that it could be an interesting character to make the upcoming season more interesting. He or she should add more spice and offer twists to the story.
One of the characters that the viewers strongly believe to return is Young Ian (John Bell). It can be recalled that he stayed behind to save Bree’s husband Roger played by Richard Rankin, and he could still be with the Mohawk Tribe where he was last seen in “Outlander” season 4 or perhaps, he already escaped from the enemies and had gone somewhere.
Bell actually already confirmed that he is coming back, but he doesn’t know yet how and when. His return has yet to be announced by Starz Network as well.
“I know, yes, I’m coming back, but in what context and all that is yet to be announced and decided,” he told Elle earlier this year. “I can’t really talk about anything else apart from the fact that I am preparing for season 5.”
Premiere date
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe reconfirmed that their “Outlander” season 5 drama will be back on air on Feb. 16, 2020. There is still a few months left before the show arrives and the actors promise a more exciting season. The fifth installment of this Starz drama is based on Diana Gabaldon’s fifth book in her Outlander series titled “The Fiery Cross.”
