Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are starring together in Starz’s “Outlander” series, and it is already in its fifth season. The two are acting as husband and wife - Jamie and Claire Fraser, so they really got closer in the years that they have been filming.
The “Outlander” series is apparently a hit, and it is one of the most viewed dramas on Starz. With their roles, Heughan and Balfe’s names have also made waves until they started to get recognition for their work. In other words, the said drama became a wagon for their success in show business, and now people recognize them everywhere they go.
Heughan’s hard climb to success
Sam Heughan is a big name today, but it was revealed that prior to getting to this point, he struggled a bit. In fact, he said that it was even so hard for him to land a role in “Game of Thrones.” He shared that he was not even targeting a major part but just a supporting cast, yet he failed to get in.
In his previous interview that surfaced again online, Heughan said that he auditioned for not just one but several characters for “Game of Thrones,” but he got rejected each time. He relayed the story in a comical way, but surely, he must have been disheartened at that time.
“I auditioned for ‘Game of Thrones’ seven times! Loads of times,” he told Vulture. “I auditioned for Renly, Loras, some of the members of the Night’s Watch and I’d always get so close! I’d be like, 'Guys, just give me a sword!' Everyone was going in for those parts.”
But then, his failure has given him something more because Starz signed him up for a lead role in “Outlander.” If he had secured a small spot in “GoT,” he would have missed his chance to star as the main character with Caitriona Balfe.
Caitriona accidentally spilled spoilers for “Outlander” season 5?
Meanwhile, Heughan and Caitriona Balfe attended the recent New York Comic Con, and they were part of the “Outlander” panel. During the talk with the audience, the actress may have accidentally revealed a major detail about their drama.
According to Express, she mentioned that her character, Claire, will show her medical expertise in the fifth season, and she made an important discovery. However, it seems that she was not supposed to share this with the audience as the show’s executive producer Maril Davis told her to skip it.
“She’s created this amazing surgery,” she told the audience before she was stopped. It’s a beautiful, beautiful set I get to do lots of different operations this season, and it’s quite cool.”
Now, fans want to know what this discovery is. Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will return to the Fraser’s Ridge on Feb. 16, 2020, on Starz.
