A Satoshi Note snapshot put the 24-hour crypto leaderboard at 93% short by position value, a reading that reflects selected traders rather than the broader market.
Timestamped at 2:31 a.m. ET (06:31 UTC) Thursday, Oct. 29, the snapshot put the group’s long positions at about $215 million and shorts at $2.83 billion. Longs represented about 7% of the total, compared with 82% in a prior edition timestamped at 4:21 a.m. ET (08:21 UTC) Wednesday, Oct. 28.
In the same reading, the seven-day cohort had about $281 million in longs and $3.03 billion in shorts. The 30-day cohort showed $317 million long and $3.34 billion short. Shorts accounted for roughly 91% of each group’s position value.
The Zcash (ZEC) account count showed a separate shift: 28 of 116 accounts were long, or 24%, compared with 79 of 98, or 81%, in the earlier edition. The snapshot listed ZEC exposure at about $0.8 million long and $239 million short. Account counts show how many accounts held each position; they do not measure the size of those positions.
The 24-hour, seven-day and 30-day lists rank accounts over separate performance windows. Their aggregate totals therefore cannot show whether particular traders changed direction. The index covers selected accounts and positions on tracked venues, rather than the whole crypto market. An earlier Satoshi Note tally put the 24-hour cohort 89% short.
Satoshi Note says its rankings use account returns over each selected period and draw on public exchange data or blockchain records, excluding accounts with hidden positions. The site describes the index as a view of open positions and says it is “not a buy or sell signal.” Its methodology says the index refreshes every 30 minutes, while dYdX data updates every three hours.
