‘Scandal’ season 6’s episode 13, titled “The Box,” will follow Olivia and Fitz as they go into conflict over Rowan and his involvement in the mission. Meanwhile, bomb threats continue to plague the city unless the team releases Mellie.
The short synopsis for “The Box” posted on TV Guide reads, “As the future of the country hangs in the balance, Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) are at odds with Rowan (Joe Morton). Meanwhile, Jake (Scott Foley) employs surprising tactics to manipulate the Mystery Woman.”
The upcoming episode will follow Olivia and President Fitz as they are in conflict with Olivia’s father, Rowan. In the previous episode, Rowan made it clear that he wants nothing to do with the mission imposed upon him even though he is the only one who could solve the issue that continues to threaten the fate of the country.
According to Christian Post, Olivia attempted to get Rowan on their side in helping take down Peus (David Warshofsky) and Ruland's (Zoe Perry) organization but Fitz remained suspicious that Rowan may end up betraying them as well.
The promo shows Peus threatening to destroy Fitz’ administration with a series of bombings, prompting Fitz to accuse Rowan of helping the enemy.
It seems that in order to solve this problem, the team only needs to turn over Mellie (Bellamy Young), who continues to be under their protection. It seems that Peus and his group want to use Mellie as a bargaining chip in their rise to power at the White House by forcing her to publicly acknowledge the change of power in the administration.
In one scene, Mellie tries to convince Fitz to let her go for the sake of the country. She pleads, “They just want me.” Olivia then receives a phone call informing her that one bomb has already been detonated and that there are eight more to go. Olivia’s next move will be crucial at this point in the series.
‘Scandal’ season 6’s episode 13, titled “The Box,” is scheduled to air on ABC on May 4, 2017. It was directed by Steph Green and written by Raamla Mohamed & Austin Guzman. It will be followed by episode 14, titled "Head Games," scheduled to be released on May 11 and directed by Zetna Fuentes.
