Rare has unveiled the next content for “Sea of Thieves” going live later this week, and it could be a high-stakes adventure for players. And this could be a great chance to defeat one of the rarest types of Megalodon called the Shrouded Ghost.
The developer released the cinematic trailer for “The Shrouded Deep” adventure. The video teaser opens with Merrick intently looking at a map, which is appropriate as the game sets on for a new adventure. But he is later startled by the sudden appearance of Belle, who is one of the latest ally NPCs introduced in the game. By the end of the trailer, Belle says she has been looking for Merrick before revealing a revamped Killer Whale ship.
In the same trailer, Merrick also mentions something about “an ancient power” before concluding that the Shrouded Ghost “moves between worlds.” From the title alone and the synopsis for the next adventure, “Sea of Thieves” players should be able to tell that an encounter with the extremely rare species of Megalodon will be the highlight of the next adventure. Meanwhile, Merrick’s rumblings about an ancient power likely refer to the “powerful artifact” that players will have to recover in “The Shrouded Deep.”

Megalodon, in general, are known to be some of the most hostile creatures players will encounter on the open seas, but they will surely reap great rewards upon defeating these predators in “Sea of Thieves.” There are five types of Megalodons introduced in the game and the Shrouded Ghost is known to be the rarest of them all. And in video games, that typically means they also give out some rare items as rewards.
The return of Belle is also a nice reminder of Rare’s new approach to delivering new content for “Sea of Thieves” this year. Last January, the developer announced the limited-time narrative-driven Adventures and Mysteries in addition to its seasonal content updates. Rare previously said that new Adventures will go live “roughly once a month.” “The Shrouded Deep” will begin on Thursday, April 21 and players can complete it until May 12.
